Nate Selby begins his fourth year as the Lion's head coach, establishing the baseball program here after five years of coaching the JV baseball team at Durango High School.  He graduated from high school in Eugene, Oregon, where he played baseball and football at North Eugene High School.  He played baseball for his dad and was an all-state shortstop.  He played college baseball at University of Nevaada Reno, Lassen Jr. College, University of Texas Pan American and Western Oregon State University.  He received his B.S. degree in 1993 from Western Oregon.  While in college he helped coach American Legion and Babe Ruth Baeball in Eugene and was a coach in 1993 when the team went to the World Seriers in Ohio.  After moving the Vegas and securing a teaching credential from UNLV, he began his teaching career at Durnago High School as a U S History teacher in 1996.  His Junior Varsity teams at Durango won over 80% of their games and 12 of those players have played at the college level with 4 of them playing professional baseball.  All of the graduated seniors at Sierra Vista have played or will play next year in Junior College.  Nate's wife Michelle, is a school psychologist with Clark County School and they have a daughter, Lauryn, who will be three on April 11.

Carlos is a native of Las Vegas, graduating from Cimarron High School in 1994.  He played college baseball at Central Arizona Junior  College and finished his playing career as an outfielder at UNLV in 1996-97.  He graduated from UNLV and taught school for Clark County Schools for two years and now works for Coast Casinos.  While he was a student teacher at Durango, he assisted Coach Selby with the J V Team and has coached with Selby since then.  He is in charge of coaching the outfielders, their allignment in games and also is the 3rd base coach.  He recently bought his first home on the west side of town.
Levi returns for his 2nd season and takes ove the hitters as well as the catchers for the Lions.  He is the Head American Legion Coach for the summer and fall programs.  He graduated from Lebanon High School in Oregon and went on to play college baseball as a catcher at Western Oregon State University and Oregon State University.  He moved to Las Vegas in 2003 after graduating from Oregon State with a B. S. degree in economics.  He is working at Sierra Vista as a long term substitute teacher and as a securtity person at the Belligo.
Andy becomes the varstiy pitching coach after serving in that catpacity witht he Junior Varstiy Team in 2004.  He also coached the pitchers during the summer and fall of 2004.  He graduated from Western High in Las Vegas where he wan an All Southern Nevada selection and then pitched at UNLV before playing professional baseball two seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays organization.  He graduated from UNLV in 2004 and is teaching at Brenly Middle School.  His was married in October to his wife Milissa.
Ty begins his 1st year of coaching at Sierra Vista after a year playing at Lassen Junior College in California.  He was an all-star shortstop for the Lions in 2002-03 ending his career with a .390 batting average and a .925 fielding percentage.  He sill holds several records in the Lion record books.  During the 2004 summer and fall he assisted with the A American Legion Team.  He is now taking classes at Southern Nevada Community College, and planning to become a teacher.  He works part time for the Distict Attorneys offics and enjoys motorcycle riding, snowboarding and camping.  He is Head Coach Nathan Selby's brother.
John joined the Sierra Vista Coaching Staff when the school opened in 2002.  He came from Oregon where he was the head baseball coach at Hood River High School.  He played college baseball at Western Oregon State University before beginning his teaching career at Hood River.  He also coached American Legion Baseball in Eugene, Oregon.  He moved to Las Vegas in 2001, teaching at Fremont Middle School and driving to Sierra Vista to coach after school.  In 2002 he transferred to Sierra Vista as a P. E. Teacher and also works as an assistant football coach.  He has considerable experience in health and fitness and serves as weight lifting coach as well as Head J. V. Coach.
Austin begins his coaching career after taking a year off and starting on his college education.  He is a full time student at Southern Nevada Community College and is working for the SPS Group Inc. Printing.  He was an outstanding player for the Lions in 2002-03 making the all Southwest League All Star Team as a pitcher.,  We won 14 games over his two year career and holds several records.  He was an assistant coach on the A American Legion Team during the summer and fall and is coaching the Junior Varsity pitchers.
