| Twelve Sierra Vista graduates will either begin their college education or continue towards a degree while playng baseball. There are 8 former Lions at Division I schools, 2 at Division II, and 6 at Community Colleges. For the first time Sierra Vista will be represented in two of the best baseball conferences: Lance Ray attends the University of Kentucky in the Southeast Conference and Matt Klein goes to Oklahoma State University in the Big 12 Conference. The Mountain West Conference will have Chad Claus, Justin Baca and Scott Berke at UNLV and Drew Leary at San Diego State University. Chuck Howard returns to New Mexico State University from the Western Athletic Conference. Division II schools will have Kyle Kutchewsky at New Mexico Highlands University and Rich Michelin at Cal Luthern University. Kiel Harman returns to CSN and Brooks Klein joins Andrew Garcia in Carson City to attend Western Nevada. David DeCarlo, Kyle Gamble, Tommy Barnes and Matt Holman will all begin their college education and play for McCook Community College in Nebraska. |

| KINGHAM THROWS 3 HITTER STRIKING OUT 11 AS LIONS SUBDUE GRIZZLIES 13-0 |

| Nick Kingham faced only 20 batters in 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out 11. He did not walk a batter and got some outstanding defensive plays to back him up. After striking out the first 2 batters in the 1st inning, Aaron Blair hit a ball over Dusty Stevens head in left field that short hopped the fence. Stevens caught the ball on the bounce and hit Jake Hager with a perfect throw, who relayed to Billy Santiwan to tag out the sliding Blair at 2nd base. Kingham retired the next 7 hitters in a row, 4 by strike outs, before Tyler Kartler hit a ball down the right field foul line that landed fair and bounced into the bullpen area. It would have been a double but it got by Alex Estrella allowing Kartler to get to 3rd base. Kingham got Blair to ground out to Connor Klein and struck out Johnny Hernandex to end the threat. Kingham moved his record to 5-0 on the year and dropped his earned run average to 0.87. This was also his 3rd complete game of the season. Klein turned in another outstanding game at 3rd base handling 4 ground ball chances, one a slow roller and another a back hand down the line. Offensively the Lions were held to 3 hits and no runs in the 1st 4 innings as the Grizzlies seamed to be everywhere the Lions hit the ball. | base by committing 3 errors in a row. With the bases loaded and no one out Klein walked to score Scotty Tomassetti with the 1st run. Marquis Towers drove in the second with a fielders choice ground ball to the 2nd baseman and Jake Hager got the 3rd RBI on a deep fly to left center to score Goldsack. That was more than enough runs for Kingham but the Lions (15-4, 5-0) put up a 10 spot in the 6th inning as they had 9 hits and the Grizzlies had another 3 errors. Kingham had the big blow as he hit his 7th home run of the season with 1 on base. The 2 RBIs give him 30 on the year, 6 ahead of Hager. It was Kingham's10th multi hit game and 8th multi RBI game. Santiwan led the offense with 3 hits on the day and extended his hitting streak to 6 games. Julian Cutolo was 2 for 4, to move his average to a team leading .526. Cutolo has hit safely in the last 11 games and has 10 multi hit games. Hager extended his consective hit games to 13. The Lions are off until Monday when they host Reno at 3:30. The rest of the week has Clark at Lion Field on Wednesday and the Lions traveling to Durango on Friday. Boxscore |

| LIONS GIVE RENO 1ST LOSS OF SEASON, 5-1 |
| Reno (16-1) came to Lion Field riding a 16 game winning streak but could not figure out 3 Lion pitchers as they lost their 1st game of the year 5-1. Sierra Vista (16-4, 5-0) scored in 4 different innings collecting 11 hits on the day. Blair Goldsack was 3 for 3 with a double and Jake Hager was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles. They were the only multi hit Lions but everyone else had a hit except the team leading hitter Julian Cutolo who went hitless for the first time in 12 games. The Lions scored a single run in the 1st inning when Hager doubled to right field and scored on Nick Kingham's single to left. In the 2nd inning the Lions extended their lead to 3-0 as Alex Estrella led off with a double to right center, moved to 3rd base on a wild pitch and scored on Goldsack's single. Connor Klein bunted Goldsack to 2nd base, Goldsack went to 3rd on Marquis Towers ground out to the 1st baseman and later scored on Hager's 2nd double of the day. Reno got their only run of the day on Pat Gallagher's home run to right field in the top of the 4th but the Lions answered when Goldsack doubled, was bunted to 3rd again by Klein and scored on Tower's double inside the 3rd base bag. The 5th run came in the 6th innings as Goldsack reached on the single to left field, Mike Levasseur ran for Goldsack so he could go warm up in the bullpen and went to 3rd base on a wild pitch as Dylan Smith, the Huskies |
| catcher,could not find the ball by the backstop. Klein promptly singled to center to drive in Lavasser to give the Lions their 4 run lead. Alex Estrella started the game, the first time he has pitched since going 5 innings against Cimarron on March16th. He looked very sharp giving up 3 hitS and striking out 5 in the 4 innings he worked. Hager pitched the 5th and 6th innings giving up 1 hit and striking out 2 to pick up his 2nd win of the year. Goldsack re-entered and pitched the 7th inning, striking out the side but allowing one single between the Ks. The schedule for the rest of the week has Clark visiting Lion Field on Wednesday for a 3:30 Southwest Division game and the Lions traveling to Durango to close out the week against the Trailblazers at 3:30 on Friday. The Lions have a 16-0 record against Clark over the 8 years and a 16-4 record against Durango. Hager extended is team leading hitting streak to 14 games. | Dusty Stevens picked up his 3rd win of the season as he threw a complete game (6 innings) against Clark. He faced only 1 batter over the minimum as he got 2 double playes behind him and he picked off a runner at 2nd base. The Chargers only got 2 singles off Stevens as he struck out 6 and walked only 1 batter. Sierra Vista (17-4, 6-0) scored 5 runs in the 1st inning to give Stevens a nice cushion to work from. Marquis Towers reached on an error by the 2nd baseman and Jake Hager followed with a hit by pitch before Julian Cutolo doubled to right field to score both runners. Billy Santiwan followed with a single to right to plate Cutolo and Stevens tripled to right to score Santiwan. Blair Goldsack then singled to center to score Stevens to give the Lions their 5 run 1st inning. The Lions scored 2 more runs in the 2nd inning on singles by Cutolo and Goldsack plus a walk and an error on the Charger's shortstop. Goldsack doubled in Stevens in the 4th innings after Armondo Perez had singled to short and Stevens reached on a fielders chioce. Jessie Stretz ended the game in the 6th innings with 1 out as he singled to left to drive in 2 runs after the Chargers had loaded the bases on 3 walkes. The Lions travel to Durango on Friday for a 3:30 game to close out the week. Durango is in 5th place with a 8-9, 4-3 record at this time.
