| There are now 3 former Lions playing professional baseball as Mark Baca joined Chris Carter and Justin Garcia when he signed a contract with the Pittsburg Pirates Organization. He is playing in the New York Penn League with the State College Spikes. |

| Sixteen Sierra Vista graduates will either begin their college education or continue towards a degree while playng baseball. There are 8 former Lions at Division I schools, 2 at Division II, and 7 at Community Colleges. For the first time Sierra Vista will be represented in two of the best baseball conferences: Lance Ray attends the University of Kentucky in the Southeast Conference and Matt Klein goes to Oklahoma State University in the Big 12 Conference. The Mountain West Conference will have Chad Claus, Justin Baca and Scott Berke at UNLV and Drew Leary at San Diego State University. Chuck Howard returns to New Mexico State University from the Western Athletic Conference. Division II schools will have Kyle Kutchewsky at New Mexico Highlands University and Rich Michelin at Cal Luthern University. Kiel Harman returns to CSN and Brooks Klein joins Andrew Garcia in Carson City to attend Western Nevada. David DeCarlo, Kyle Gamble, Tommy Barnes and Matt Holman will all begin their college education and play for McCook Community College in Nebraska. |

| Nick Kingham Signs to attend the University of Oregon |
| Nick Kingham signed his letter of intent to the University of Oregon and will attend classes begining in September. Nick played at Calvery Chapel his freshman and sophomore years and had to sit out his junior years after transfering to Sierra Vista. He will play his first games, as a pitcher and 1st baseman, for the Lions in March of this year. Oregon reinstated it's baseball program last year after dropping it in the 1970s They had a overall record in 2009 of 14-42 and 4-23 in the Pac 10. Another Las Vegas pitcher is on the Duck's roster, Tyler Anderson from Spring Valley who had a 2-9 record last year. |
| Western Nevada Schedules 9 Games at Lion Field in 2010 |
| Western Nevada will play 3 different Arizona Junior Colleges over 3 different weekends in January and February. They play a double header with South Mountain on Jan. 30th at 11:00, and a single game of Sunday Jan. 31st at 11:00. The next weekend will bring Pima College to Lion Field on Saturday Feb. 6th for a double header starting at 11:00 and a single game on the 7th at 11:00. Arizona Western will play Westen Nevada on Feb 13 and 14 with a double header starting at 11:00 on Saturday and a single game on Sunday at 11:00. |
| Coach Selby Announces 2010 Schedule |
| Coach Nathan Selby announced the 2010 schedule which includes 31 games. The number of games that CCSD will allow in 2010 has been reduced to 21 plus 2 tournaments that could increase the total number of games. The Lions will play a Lion Tournament in early March and in the Durango Spring Bash to get 10 more games to make their schedule a total of 31. The season begins with 2 scrimmage games on March 6th and 8th against Centennial and Faith Luthern. The 5 non league games will be against Palo Verde, Cimarron, Arbor View, Las Vegas and Reno. The 16 league games account for the remainder of the schedule. |
| CHRIS CARTER MAKES OAKLANDS 40 MAN ROSTER |

| Chris Carter (2005) has been placed on the Oakland Athletics 40 man roster. After 5 years as a minor league player for the Chicago White Sox and Oakland, Chris will enter spring training in February with an excellent chance of seeing his 1st major league action during the 2010 season. He recently finished an assingment in the Mexican Winter League after an all star year in AA ball at Midland Texas. |
| The 2010 season is less than two months away. Scrimmage games againist Centennial and faith Lutheran on March 6th and 8th are first before the regular season begins with the Lion Tournament. Centennial, Green Valley and Legacy along with Sierra Vista will play 6 games in 3 days to open the season. On Thursday March 11th Sierra Vista will be at Centennial at 3:30 for 2 games, Legacy will play at Green Valley at 2:30. On Friday the 12th Sierra Vista will play at Green Valley at 2:30 and Legacy at Centennial at 3:30. On Saturday the action is at Lion Field with Sierra Vista playing Centennial at 8:30 and Legacy at 3;15. Betwen the Sierra Vista games Centennial will play Green Valley and then Green Valley will play Legacy. These are all Tournament games and an admission will be charged. |
