STATE CHAMPIONS
There are now 3 former Lions playing professional baseball as Mark Baca joined Chris Carter and Justin Garcia when he signed a contract with the Pittsburg Pirates Organization.  He is playing in the New York Penn League with the State College Spikes.

Twelve Sierra Vista graduates will either begin their college education or continue towards a degree while playng baseball.  There are 8 former Lions at Division I schools, 2 at Division II, and 6 at Community Colleges.  For the first time Sierra Vista will be represented in two of the best baseball conferences:  Lance Ray attends the University of Kentucky in the Southeast Conference and Matt Klein goes to Oklahoma State University in the Big 12 Conference.  The Mountain West Conference will have Chad Claus, Justin Baca and Scott Berke at UNLV and Drew Leary at San Diego State University.  Chuck Howard returns to New Mexico State University from the Western Athletic Conference.  Division II schools will have Kyle Kutchewsky at New Mexico Highlands University and Rich Michelin at Cal Luthern University.  Kiel Harman returns to CSN and Brooks Klein joins Andrew Garcia in Carson City to attend Western Nevada.  David DeCarlo, Kyle Gamble, Tommy Barnes and Matt Holman will all begin their college education and play for McCook Community College in Nebraska.
